FTP Upload using filezilla

Filezilla is free FTP software that can be downloaded for free at www.filezilla-project.org. Fillezilla can be used to upload/download or change your website's files. Filezilla can be downloaded as "ready to use" or under an .exe extension (which is recommended by Filezilla developers).

Once downloaded, Filezilla needs to be unzipped or installed. The most important thing, after installation, is that you have to connect Filezilla with your hosting. Following the next steps, you will be able to access your hosting:

  1. Open Filezilla and click File > Site Manager.
  2. Click New Site and add the followings:
  3. Host and Port (most of the time it is ftp.yourdomain.com and port 21)
  4. Logon Type: Normal
  5. Your FTP user and password (your FTP user and password can be created from your Hosting Control Panel)
  6. Click Connect and you are ready to go.

Your FTP hosting will be saved in Filezilla and you will not have to repeat the steps.

Another way to use Filezilla is the Quick connect function. This function helps you to connect faster to your hosting account. At the top of the screen you will be able to see four input boxes where you have to add the following:

  1. Host(ftp.domain.com in most of the cases).
  2. Username and Password(Create them in your Cpanel account).
  3. Port (21 or you can leave it empty).

FTP Upload using Filezilla is very simple. On the left side, you are able to see all your computer's folders and on the right side you can see all the folders that are on your hosting account. There are a few simple steps that need to be followed to upload your files on hosting:

  1. Choose from the left side the files that needs to be uploaded.
  2. Move the files with your mouse to the right where your hosting files are.
  3. Now you can access your files via your website.
